🎉Reframing Practice: It means a safe space to WELCOME mistakes.

[🎉REFRAMING PRACTICE] Practice means a safe space to WELCOME mistakes.

🗣We always hear teachers and educators talk about:

🗣“you need to practice,” “make sure you practice regularly,” and “have your child practice.” Over, and over, and over.

We created a free Multiplication Learning Routine Habit Checklist to make it clear and easy for both you and your child to keep track of their learning. You can grab it HERE :)

Unfortunately, it probably does not happen much.
🤔 Here is why it's important. Besides what we already know– that we get better at something. What’s actually going on? And what does it mean?

🌈 It means taking out the kinks.

🌈 It means making the mistakes NOW so that you can SEE yourself MAKING those mistakes AND changing the approach (addressing them).

🌈 It means developing the skill of seeing patterns. Math is all about patterns and when you discover them that's when the fun can begin because it seems like games and riddles.

🌈 It means learning what you ACTUALLY need to focus on.

⚠️ When I was in school I always thought, how the heck do you even study math? And will it even make a difference if I know I'm not good at it? (That second part is a whole thing in itself, so let's come back to it later).

How to practice, you ask? The answer is, by MAKING MISTAKES.

The whole point of practicing IS to make mistakes. Why?

During a mistake you figure out the weak areas.
🚀 This is a clue on what questions your child can: ask you, ask in class, ask to the teacher, or tutor.

🚀 It's a tale sign on where to go back to, what to re-explain in different ways for greater comprehension. This information is useful for the student, the person teaching the material (parent, teacher, or tutor).

🚀 It will give you a hint on where to focus special attention during an exam.

The best way to study is to UNCOVER all these areas that give us hints on what needs improvement.

🌈 Let’s reframe practice as a safe space to welcome mistakes so that instead of feeling down when a mistake occurs, we can view it as a happy clue in the right direction.
